IMMIGRATION ATTORNEY LAURA LEON

Defending Your Rights

LAURA LEON

Laura was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia. She moved to the United States when she was eight years old. When her family was required to adjust their status, an immigration attorney played an important role in guiding her family through the complex process. Her journey toward obtaining U.S. citizenship sparked a desire to become an immigration attorney.

Laura earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Communication from Westminster College. During her undergraduate degree, she was an intern through AmeriCorps and provided over 450 hours of community service to the Hispanic community in Salt Lake City, Utah. She earned her law degree from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law. While in law school, she participated in the Immigration and Criminal Clinic and earned a Pro Bono Initiative Certificate for providing over 240 hours of service. One of her favorite pro bono projects was assisting victims of domestic violence and victims of crime in filing their U visa petitions with USCIS at Ballard Spahr LLP.

Laura has over seven years of experience in Immigration Law and has represented over 700 families.

Laura is a member in good standing of the New Mexico Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Laura currently serves on the Education Committee for the Hispanic Forum and on the Risk Management Committee for the Interfaith Immigration Arms Network.
