Laura Leon, Esq. is the founder of Laura Leon Law, PLLC and an immigration attorney whose personal immigration journey inspired her lifelong commitment to helping individuals and families achieve their American dream.
Born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, Laura immigrated to the United States at the age of eight.
After experiencing firsthand the challenges of navigating the immigration system, she was inspired to pursue a legal career dedicated to guiding others through the same process with compassion, integrity, and trusted legal counsel.
Ms. Leon earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Communication from Westminster College before receiving her Juris Doctor from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law.
During law school, she participated in the Immigration and Criminal Clinic and was awarded a Pro Bono Initiative Certificate after completing more than 240 hours of pro bono service.
One of her most meaningful experiences was assisting victims of domestic violence and other qualifying crimes with U Visa petitions through Ballard Spahr LLP.
Prior to law school, she also completed more than 450 hours of community service through AmeriCorps, serving the Hispanic community in Salt Lake City, Utah.
With more than seven years of exclusive immigration law experience, Ms. Leon has helped over 700 families navigate complex immigration matters.
She represents clients in a wide range of cases, including family-based immigration, humanitarian relief, U Visas, VAWA petitions, adjustment of status, citizenship and naturalization, waivers, and other immigration matters. She is committed to providing personalized legal strategies and clear communication while advocating for the best interests of every client.
Laura is a member in good standing of the New Mexico Bar Association and the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). She also serves on the Education Committee for the Hispanic Forum and the Risk Management Committee for the Interfaith Immigration Arms Network, reflecting her ongoing commitment to serving both the legal profession and the immigrant community.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Ms. Leon takes pride in helping clients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout every step of their immigration journey. Her mission is to provide the same guidance and advocacy that once made a meaningful difference in her own family’s life.
